Watch a video tour of the time tracking section

The narrated tour will take just under three minutes

Why are my time reports cut off? Why aren't they showing the full date range?

Time tracking reports are limited to 6-month date ranges. You can run as many reports as you'd like, but you can only pull 6 months worth of time data at once. If you need to pull 12 months, then just run two 6-month reports back to back.

How do I use Basecamp to-do lists to track time?

View the instructions on using to-do lists to track time located in the "To-Do" help section. You can also learn more about this by watching this quick video tour of time tracking.

Can our clients see time tracking information?

Time tracking is only available to people in your own company. Clients or people in other companies can not see the tab.

Can we add time from the Dashboard or do we need to go into a project to add time?

In order to enter any data in a project you need to enter that project first. Once inside you'll see the Time tab. Click that tab and you can enter time tracking data for that project.

Does Basecamp have a stopwatch/timer or do I need to
enter time manually?

Basecamp does not have a timer. You'll need to enter time manually. You may also want to try Timepost, a project timer that allows you to post accurate hours directly to Basecamp.

Can we import time tracking data from external tools or Excel?

There is no way to import time tracking data at this time, but you can export your data in CSV format by clicking the "Export" link in the bottom right corner.
