  • Time tracking

    What is time tracking?

Basecamp Time Tracking allows you to keep track of how much time your group is spending on tasks. You can run reports on individual people, date ranges, or total aggregate time across all projects.

  • SSL Security

    What is SSL?

SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, but what it really means is that the data sent between Basecamp and your computer is safely encrypted from prying eyes. It's the same technology that online banks and e-commerce sites use to keep your credit card information safe. If extra security is important to you then SSL is important to you.

  • 35 Active Projects

    What are active projects?

Basecamp projects can either be active or archived. Active projects are projects in progress. They're projects you are working on. Archived projects are projects you've finished. Archived projects can't be modified. You can archive or activate a project whenever you'd like, but the number of active projects you can have at one time depends on which Basecamp membership plan you're using.

Note: The free account only includes one project total. You can't archive projects on the free account.

How does the 30-day free trial work?

If you cancel a paying plan within 30 days of signing up you won't be charged a thing. If you do choose to cancel your account in the future you will never be charged again, but you are responsible for charges already incurred up until your cancellation. Refunds can not be issued after your initial 30 day trial and we don't prorate for partial months.

Do I get a 30-day free trial if I upgrade from free plan
to paying at a later date?

If you upgrade from a free account to a pay account you are not eligible for the 30-day free trial. The 30-day free trial on paying plans only applies if you sign up for a paying plan now.

Are your prices fixed per month or are they per-user?

There are no additional per-user charges — the flat monthly price is the same no matter if 1 person or 100 people are using your account. Basecamp pricing is based on how many projects you are managing at one time, not the number of people who are using it. The more people who use Basecamp in your organization, the better.

Is this a long-term commitment? Can we pay a year in advance?

Basecamp is a pay-as-you-go service. There are no long term contracts of commitments on your part. If you cancel, you'll be billed for the current month, but you won't be billed again. Once you've signed up you can pay for as many months in advance as you'd like. Just click the "Account" tab then scroll down to the "Lump Sum Payment" section.

What is an "Active project"?

There are two main types of projects in Basecamp: Active projects and Archived projects. Active projects are what we count. For example, the Plus plan allows you to manage up to 35 active projects at once. You can have unlimited archived projects if you want since those aren't counted against your total. You can read more about project status in the FAQ section.

Can I change plans at any time?

Yep — and it's really easy. Simply click on the "Account" tab on your dashboard and you'll see your options. Plus, we'll never hit you up with a "set-up" or extra "one-time" fee when you upgrade.

What types of payment do you accept? Will you take a P.O.? Can you invoice us?

Currently we accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. At this time we only accept payments online so we will not be able to accept a P.O., invoice you, or take an order over the phone.

Where can we review your terms of service and privacy policies?

Here are our Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

Any questions before you sign up?
